Chamomile

Considered to be one of the most ancient and versatile medicinal herbs known to mankind, dried chamomile flowers have numerous, widespread health implications thanks to their high level of disease-fighting antioxidants. Chamomile flowers are mildly sedative, making them wonderful for improving sleep quality and relaxation.

BENEFITS OF CHAMOMILE

  • Promotes sleep and treats insomnia: Chamomile relaxes nerves and soothes the nervous system, therefore helping you sleep better.
  • Boosts immunity: It fights harmful bacteria and has the ability to boost your immune system.
  • Reduces muscle spasms: Great for menstrual cramps as it relaxes the uterus and decreases the production of prostaglandins (hormone-like substances that cause inflammation and pain.
  • Soothes stomach aches: Chamomile tea has been valued as a digestive relaxant and has been used to treat various gastrointestinal disturbances including indigestion, diarrhea, motion sickness, nausea and vomiting.
  • Treats cuts, wounds and skin conditions: Chamomile has anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. It heals skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema. I use chamomile in my soothing salve, which healed my dads psoriasis on his hands.
  • Reduces acne: Due to it’s anti-inflammatory and anti-septic properties, chamomile helps fade spots, eliminate acne scars and fight breakouts, if used topically.
  • Anti-Aging: Chamomile tea is a powerhouse of antioxidants and protects the skin from free-radical damage. It accelerates cell and tissue regeneration, helps tighten the pores and slows down the ageing process.
  • Treats sunburn: Chamomile tea is known for its antioxidant, soothing and anti-inflammatory properties. You can brew the tea, chill it thoroughly, soak a towel in it and then apply to the sunburned area.
  • Eliminates dandruff: Chamomile tea helps eliminate and prevent dandruff, soothe scalp irritation and promote healthy hair. You can use it as a final rinse after washing your hair.
